Thursday night. I am sitting at a table at the McMenamins Tavern & Pool on nw 23rd ave in portland. Warming up in between night photo shoot sessions.... the first i did at the rose gardens in the west hill overlooking downtown portland. my goal was to get some shots of mt. hood before and during the sunset. done deal. after that i went to the vista bridge to check the view for my next shoot coming up at 941pm.. the moonrise. as long as the skies stay clear and the moon comes up in a good spot, i hope to get some shots of it over downtown portland. that led me to where i am currently sitting, sipping on a beer.. a guest on tap beer. my choice? Terminal Gravity IPA... such a unique tasting beer. I favor it when it is available as my mom lives in wallowa county, home of Terminal Gravity, located in Enterprise, Oregon. I highly advise all beer lovers to travel to the far northeast corner of the state of oregon during the spring and summer and fall and winter too!... if i remember correctly, the brewhouse has limited operating days and hours in the winter. nothing worse than driving up to the former house converted into brewpub and seeing a closed sign on it! Spend some time at Wallowa Lake, walk the streets of Joseph, check out the county courthouse in Enterprise and maybe look to see if the O.K. Theatre is still for sale! Spend an afternoon delight at Terminal Gravity outside or in, both are so so nice. Good food and great beer and some nice photography on the walls. Wow, just looked around and here I am in nw portland waiting for the moon to rise. All that talk of terminal gravity in the northeast section of the state had me lost in thoughts. Time for one more before la luna rises! cheers to you and yours.
